Atlanta Braves Manager Makes Heartfelt Statement On Beloved Team Player

On Sunday, the Atlanta Braves wrapped up their home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Georgia with a narrow 3-2 victory.

The win allowed Atlanta to close out the series on a positive note, edging Pittsburgh in a tightly contested matchup and continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.

Braves Manager Makes Heartfelt Statement

After the game, manager Walt Weiss was asked about Carlos Carrasco (via BravesVision).

Weiss: “Cookie’s unbelievable. We love having him here… He hasn’t had many opportunities, but when he has, he’s done a really good job for us… You will not meet a better person than Cookie Carrasco… He’s as good as it gets.”

Carrasco is in his second season with the Braves.

Right now, he is 0-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four games.

Carrasco’s MLB Career

Carrasco has been in the MLB for 17 seasons.

In addition to the Braves, the 39-year-old has also spent time with the Cleveland Guardians, New York Mets and New York Yankees.

Over 339 career games, Carrasco has gone 112-105 with a 4.22 ERA.

While Carrasco is far from his prime, he is a good veteran to have in the clubhouse.

The Braves are looking to compete for a World Series Championship in 2026, and team chemistry can be an underrated aspect to an organization making a deep run.

He was traded to the Braves (via the Yankees) during the middle of last season.

The Yankees wrote (via X) on July 28, 2025: “The New York Yankees today announced that they have traded right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations.”

Braves Right Now

The Braves are 45-21 in 66 games, which has them as the best team in baseball (and at the top of the National League East).

They have gone 8-2 over their last ten games.

On Tuesday night, the Braves will open up a new series with the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field in Illinois.
