Just In: Packers on top of many programs to land Patriots quarterback

The Green Bay Packers have the potential to make a significant impact in the NFC in 2024.

Following a surprising performance last season, expectations are now higher for the Packers. Much of their potential success hinges on quarterback Jordan Love. However, if Love were to be sidelined due to injury, the depth behind him on the roster is lacking.

As a result, Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine suggested that the Packers might consider acquiring New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe, who could be on the move.

Ballentine noted, “Teams that could benefit from Zappe include the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Los Angeles Rams. Zappe has shown some promise as a backup in his first two seasons. While he may not have exceptional physical traits, he is capable of managing an NFL offense and has a 4-4 record as a starter with a career passer rating of 78.5. Last season highlighted the importance of having a reliable backup quarterback.

“Injuries to key quarterbacks impacted many teams, and those with dependable backups managed to stay competitive. Currently, the backup situations for the Packers, Chargers, and Rams are concerning. Michael Pratt, a 2024 seventh-round pick, might challenge Sean Clifford for the starting role in Green Bay. Easton Stick is the next man up for the Chargers if Justin Herbert is unavailable, and Stetson Bennett is the backup to Matthew Stafford for the Rams.”

If Zappe becomes available, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Packers showed interest.
