With fall camp now concluded, the depth chart is taking shape for week one, as practice intensifies with a focus on game preparation for the Golden Eagles. According to a new report, the team has also made a recent addition.

Nick Roush of KSR reports that the Wildcats have brought in former Boyle County standout Sage Dawson as a walk-on.

Originally committed to Air Force, Dawson was expected to be a two-sport athlete in Colorado Springs, playing both football and baseball for the Falcons. However, he has chosen to play his college football in Lexington instead.

Last season, Sage Dawson played both quarterback and cornerback for the Rebels, leading them to another championship. His impressive performance earned him the 4-A Player of the Year award.

As a senior, Dawson completed 137 of 194 passes (70.6%) for 2,509 yards and 29 touchdowns, while also rushing for 385 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 24 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Although Dawson wasn’t considered a high-profile college recruit, he was ranked 20th in Kentucky as a 2-star prospect by 247 Sports. He also received scholarship offers from Army and EKU.

It’s always great to see local talent from Kentucky added to the roster.
