Lsu Tigers commits another prospect to program

The LSU Tigers successfully flipped one of the fastest recruits in the 2025 class from the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan had seen Phillip Wright decommit about two weeks ago, and now he has committed to LSU. Georgia had also been pursuing the newest Tiger.

Originally from Destrehan, Louisiana, the 3-star recruit is 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds. He’s not just any football prospect—he’s also a standout track athlete. His exceptional speed would have been a valuable asset for Michigan, especially during their roster rebuild under head coach Sherrone Moore.

Wright, who had been courted by both Georgia and LSU, along with several other top Power Four programs, initially committed to the Wolverines in July 2024. However, he stayed open to interest from other teams, including the Bulldogs.

With a strong three-star rating (88) and ranked as the nation’s 65th wide receiver by 247Sports, Wright’s talents might be underestimated. His impressive 10.46-second 100-meter dash time highlights his ability to score from anywhere on the field, making him a constant threat.

His exceptional track performance has caused some to overlook his football skills, particularly as a receiver.

Despite earlier indications that LSU was the frontrunner, Wright has now officially committed to the Tigers.

“There have been a few people that call me a ‘track guy,'” Wright told 247Sports earlier this summer. “But my track trainer says I’m a football player who’s just blessed with the ability to run track. That’s what he tells me, and I believe he’s right.”

Previous speculation had positioned the Wolverines as potential front-runners or at least on equal footing in securing Wright’s initial commitment. However, LSU was consistently viewed as a strong contender in his recruitment.
