The Pittsburgh Steelers have confirmed that two players will not play in their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns. Outside linebacker (ankle) and cornerback (hamstring) have both been ruled out. Highsmith is hopeful to return for the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, although that is not certain.
With Highsmith sidelined, Nick Herbig and Preston Smith will take the lead in his absence, with T.J. Watt starting alongside them. Herbig and Smith will face off against the Browns’ left tackle Germain Ifedi, as the Browns have ruled out Jedrick Wills and lost Dawand Jones.
Cory Trice remains hopeful about returning this week, but he will be sidelined as the team works through his 21-day window. He has been out for eight weeks due to a hamstring injury.
The Steelers currently have five active cornerbacks on their roster, with James Pierre serving as the primary backup on the outside, along with taking on the gunner role that Trice previously held.
Defensive tackle Keeanu Benton, cornerback Joey Porter Jr., and tight end MyCole Pruitt are all healthy and will be available for the game.
