The Boston Bruins placed forward on waivers on Friday, according to several sources. The forward did not record any points or shots on goal, and had four penalty minutes and three hits in two games with Boston. If the 6-foot-6, 230-pound winger clears waivers, the Bruins plan to send him to their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
The 26-year-old was signed by the Bruins on July 1, 2024, after spending the previous season with the Colorado Avalanche organization. In his 20 career regular-season games, he has recorded two goals, one assist, and has a minus-4 rating. He was drafted 25th overall by the Dallas Stars in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft. The Coon Rapids, Minnesota native played three seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and has five years of experience in the AHL.
Last season, Tufte appeared in five games for the Avalanche, scoring one goal and one assist. While playing for the Colorado Eagles, he had a strong performance with 23 goals and 22 assists in 67 games during the 2022-23 season. This move could create enough salary cap space for the Bruins to sign veteran forward Tyler Johnson, who is currently on a Professional Tryout with the team.
