The Denver Broncos are adding Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Alexander, who suffered an Achilles injury last season against the Green Bay Packers, has been working on his recovery and now has an opportunity to join a new team.
The Broncos have faced challenges at linebacker this season, particularly in coverage. While Cody Barton and Alex Singleton are the starters, Alexander brings valuable experience as a versatile veteran.
Last season, Alexander recorded 41 tackles and five tackles for loss in nine games with the Steelers, starting two of those after Cole Holcomb’s season-ending knee injury. He also contributed with one interception and a forced fumble.
Having entered the league in 2015 as a fourth-round draft pick from LSU, Alexander began his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has since played for the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and the Steelers. However, injuries have been a recurring issue for him.
Now at 30, Alexander aims to demonstrate he still has much to offer, and the Broncos are in need of support in their linebacker unit.
