Missouri wing plans to enter the transfer portal and is pursuing an NCAA hardship waiver to gain eligibility for a seventh season, according to an On3 report by Joe Tipton.
However, as of 12:45 p.m. on Monday, April 13, USA Today Sports reported that Crews’ name had not yet officially appeared in the portal.
Crews has spent the past two seasons at Missouri, including an extra year as a sixth-year senior due to his earlier time in junior college. His case for another season is tied to the 2021–22 campaign at North Florida, when he played in only nine games.
At 6-foot-8, Crews seems to have a reasonable chance of being granted an additional year of eligibility.
His 2020-21 season — Crews’ true freshman year — does not count toward his eligibility because of the COVID pandemic. All players who participated in that season were granted an extra season of eligibility by the NCAA

He played only nine games for North Florida in 2021-22. That is under the NCAA-allotted maximum number of games to qualify for a redshirt year. Crews entered the portal on Dec. 6, 2021, at North Florida, well before the midpoint of the season and below the current 30%-of-games threshold set by the NCAA for redshirts.
Crews then transferred to Dayton State, a junior college in Florida. In a ruling last season, which initially allowed him to return to Mizzou last season, the NCAA granted a one-year waiver to all former JUCO players to retain one year of eligibility.
Since then, Crews has spent three seasons in the sport: One with UT Martin, and two with Missouri under head coach Dennis Gates.
That means, if he is granted the waiver, he has one more season to play.
If Crews is granted the waiver, it appears as though he will spend next season elsewhere.
Crews played in 66 games for Mizzou over two seasons, making 11 starts — all this past year. He averaged 7.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game for the Tigers.
He shot 38.7% from 3-point range, primarily appearing for the Tigers as a floor-spacer and perimeter threat. In his time with Missouri, 69.5% of his total shot attempts from the field were from behind the arc.
He is the fourth Mizzou player to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining point guards Anthony Robinson II and T.O. Barrett and combo guard Sebastian Mack.
Missouri had not made any transfer portal signings at the time of Crews’ announcement. The Tigers have five open spots for their 2026-27 roster.
