Hokies receive mind-blowing news involving QB

As you can probably guess, I pay close attention to what’s buzzing on “Hokies Twitter.” Most of it is pretty standard stuff—”Fire Brent Pry,” “Bring back Beamer,” “Nike Pro Combat Black was the best.” You know, the usual internet chatter. But every now and then, the X platform offers a small, unexpected piece of insight. It’s rare, but when it happens, I tend to overthink it. When I came across this particular post on X, I nearly spit out my drink.

Jerod Evans was an absolute force for those who might be newer to Hokies football. He led Virginia Tech to the ACC Championship game in 2016, which was Justin Fuente’s second-to-last season as head coach. That year also marked Evans’ only season in Blacksburg, as he left with a year of eligibility still remaining. I’ve always wondered about that decision—why leave college football early? Why step away from a program only to settle for a mid-to-late round NFL draft pick, at best? Evans signed as an undrafted free agent with the Eagles but never really found his footing. He had a great blend of size, speed, and a strong arm. Just take a look at this incredible run as an example:

When I first saw the tweet, I wasn’t exactly sure who Evans was referring to. To give you some context, Jerod Evans began his college career at the Air Force Academy. After suffering an ACL tear, he transferred to Trinity Valley Community College, where he proceeded to break more records than Michael Jackson ever did.
