Major Update: Huge, Vancouver Canucks make massive roster shakeup, add two Prolific stars to program

The Vancouver Canucks announced on Sunday that they have recalled forward Jonathan Lekkerimäki and goaltender Ty Young from their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.

In a corresponding move, forwards Nils Åman and Arshdeep Bains, along with goaltender Arturs Šilovs, have been reassigned to the AHL.

Lekkerimäki, a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, has appeared in seven games for Abbotsford this season, recording five goals and seven points. He spent most of the 2023-24 season with Örebro HK in the SHL, where he tallied 31 points in 46 regular-season games.

Young, selected by the Canucks in the fifth round of the 2022 draft, has played two games this season with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL. In those appearances, he posted a 1-1-0 record, a 1.01 goals-against average (GAA), and a .974 save percentage. Last season, during his junior career with the Prince George Cougars in the WHL, he recorded a 23-11-0 record, a 2.79 GAA, and a .903 SV%.

Aman, who has two assists in five games with Vancouver, Bains, with one goal in seven games, and Šilovs, who has posted an .808 SV% in four appearances, will now join Abbotsford to strengthen their roster.

This marks the first NHL call-ups for both Lekkerimäki and Young, who now have the chance to make their NHL debuts with the Canucks.
