The Green Bay Packers aim to extend their winning streak to four games this Sunday as they head to Florida to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8.
The Packers have been performing well on both offense and defense, particularly excelling defensively. They lead the NFL in takeaways with 17 and rank 10th in scoring defense, allowing an average of 20.4 points per game.
However, they may be without a key depth player in the secondary for this matchup.
Packers News: Green Bay CB Corey Ballentine Still Not Practicing
As reported by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, veteran cornerback Corey Ballentine missed practice on Thursday due to an ankle injury. In contrast, linebacker Quay Walker, Elgton Jenkins, and Josh Myers returned to practice.
Ballentine was listed as DNP on the injury report Wednesday. Dominique Yates of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted that the 28-year-old cornerback was seen doing conditioning drills during media availability.
This season, Ballentine has recorded four combined tackles over seven games, participating in 61 percent of special teams plays and only 10 percent of defensive snaps in 2024.
Having been with the Packers for the past three years after being drafted in the sixth round by the New York Giants in 2019, Ballentine will have one final opportunity to prove his readiness for Sunday during Friday’s practice.
