BREAKING: Five-star super talent leaves Gamecocks fans in tears as he decommits from South Carolina

Five-star quarterback  announced  that he has decommitted from South Carolina. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior, who is ranked as the No. 13 quarterback in the 2026 class by the On3 composite, stated that he wants to explore all his options after committing to the Gamecocks nearly a year ago.

“I want to enjoy the recruiting process, visit other schools, and take my time to make the best decision for my future,” Duckworth explained.

Aggies coach Cody Flournoy expressed support for Duckworth’s decision. “It’s a great choice for him. He’s still young with a lot of potential. He should explore different schools and engage in football discussions with college coaches. He is a Division I talent with a promising future ahead.”

Duckworth’s mother, Tiffany Campbell, also supports her son’s decision. “I fully support Landon’s choice. He’s young, has much to learn, and almost two years to enjoy the recruitment process.”

Despite his decommitment, Duckworth and his family are maintaining a positive relationship with South Carolina, and he remains open to considering the Gamecocks.

Duckworth’s decision opens the door for several Power 5 programs, including Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, TCU, Nebraska, Oregon, and Maryland, all of which have extended offers. Last season, Duckworth completed 118 of 196 passes for 1,971 yards, 27 touchdowns, and four interceptions, leading Jackson to an 11-1 record. The Aggies are expected to be strong contenders for the Class 4A state title this season.
