The Toronto Maple Leafs have been concentrating on strengthening their defense this offseason, and a proposed trade could enhance their efforts further.

Using PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool, which allows users to create trade scenarios, one user suggested a deal that would bring Colton Parayko from the St. Louis Blues to the Maple Leafs.

Blues get:

Timothy Liljegren
Fraser Minten
Nick Robertson
David Kampf

The proposed trade would be a major move for the Toronto Maple Leafs, adding Colton Parayko, who has five years remaining on his eight-year, $52 million contract with the St. Louis Blues. Parayko could step in as a top-four defenseman and significantly bolster Toronto’s blue line, potentially making it one of the best in the league.

Parayko, who won the Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019 under then-coach Craig Berube—now the head coach of the Maple Leafs—recorded 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 82 games last season.

In exchange, the Maple Leafs would need to part with several assets. The Blues would receive Timothy Liljegren, a former first-round pick at just 25 years old who has faced challenges staying in Toronto’s lineup.

Additionally, the trade would include Fraser Minten, a second-round pick from 2022 who made the Maple Leafs out of training camp last season but didn’t stay. He could potentially slot into the lower lines for the Blues.

Nick Robertson, an NHL player who has requested a trade and indicated he has no intention of re-signing with Toronto, would also be part of the deal. The restricted free agent forward is expected to be a top-six player with St. Louis.

Lastly, David Kampf, a fourth-line center, would be included to help balance the salary cap and facilitate the trade.
