A tight end from Hammond School in Columbia, South Carolina, has announced his commitment to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers via social media on Saturday.
Tyler, a South Carolina native, visited Baton Rouge twice this summer, with LSU intensifying their recruitment efforts following his June visit. After participating in a summer camp with the Tigers, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect impressed the coaching staff, leading to an invitation to the Bayou Splash recruiting event at the end of July.
The LSU staff quickly identified Tyler as a key recruit in the 2025 class. Ultimately, it came down to a choice between LSU and Duke, with the Tigers securing his commitment despite the presence of another top tight end recruit, JD LaFleur, already committed to LSU.
Tyler’s standout junior season, which featured 33 receptions for 543 yards and seven touchdowns, attracted offers from numerous East Coast programs. He is now considering over 20 offers, including ones from LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Wake Forest.
LSU, aiming to build a strong tight end roster for the 2025 class, is excited to add Tyler alongside LaFleur. The focus now shifts to the Early Signing Period in December, where LSU’s impressive 2025 recruiting class, currently ranked No. 3 overall, will look to finalize their commitments. This class features top prospects such as Bryce Underwood (No. 1 QB), Harlem Berry (No. 1 RB), and DJ Pickett (No. 1 CB).
With the possibility of finishing with the top recruiting class, Brian Kelly and his team are working to assemble a well-rounded group that will benefit the program in the future. Tyler’s commitment marks the 23rd for the 2025 class, with more additions expected soon. LSU Tigers On SI will provide updates on the latest recruiting developments as the Tigers continue to build their 2025 class.
