On Monday, Georgia Tech landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Josh Petty, outpacing Ohio State in the recruiting race. By Wednesday, information about Petty’s financial arrangement with the Yellow Jackets became available.
According to On3, Georgia Tech and Petty have struck a three-year “Roster Value” deal, ensuring he will earn at least $800,000 per year. A source from Florida State, which also targeted Petty, noted that the recruitment did not become a high-stakes bidding war.
Petty’s father, James Petty, told On3 that the combination of educational benefits and NIL opportunities played a crucial role in his son’s choice.
“My son and other athletes now have the chance to build a financial foundation that will support them in life and help with affordability issues,” said James Petty.
