Hubert Davies Reportedly WELCOME Another Transfer Commits to Tar Heels

After spending two years at Morehead State, a year at Western Carolina, and his senior season at Georgia Tech, Tyzhaun Claude is set to join the University of North Carolina for his graduate year. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward announced his commitment to UNC’s basketball program on Wednesday.

Claude, who is 24 and from Goldsboro, N.C., averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game over 32 appearances for the Yellow Jackets last season. During his time at Western Carolina, he started every game and averaged 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds.

While Claude is expected to contribute depth to the Tar Heels’ frontcourt in Hubert Davis’ fourth season as UNC’s head coach, he might not be a regular in the rotation.

“I was a UNC fan growing up,” Claude told Zagsblog’s Adam Zagoria. “Coach Hubert made me feel valued, and I believe I can offer qualities that contribute to winning, even if they don’t always show up in the stats. I’m committed to giving my all every time I step on the court.”

Claude is the third transfer addition to the Tar Heels’ roster this offseason, joining former Belmont forward Cade Tyson and former Vanderbilt forward Ven-Allen Lubin, who previously played at Notre Dame.
