Mount Gay, the world’s oldest running rum distillery, is proud to announce its official partnership with the West Indies Cricket team for the 2024 season. Unveiled during the Men’s ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, held in Barbados in June, Mount Gay supported the team on their UK tour, marking a significant alliance between two iconic Caribbean institutions.
Mount Gay is serving as the official sponsor of the West Indies Cricket team, supporting them both on and off the field. Highlighting Mount Gay’s commitment to cricket and the wider sporting communities, the partnership features a series of activations throughout the UK, starting with the West Indies team’s 3rd Test against England in July, and continuing for the South Africa tour in August and beyond.
Antoine Couvreur, Mount Gay’s managing director, notes: “As a brand deeply rooted in the Caribbean, we are incredibly excited to announce our partnership with the West Indies Cricket team. This collaboration celebrates our shared passion for excellence, bringing together the best of Caribbean culture and sport.”
The announcement follows the brand’s Cricket Incentive Competition, which launched at the T20 International series at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, in 2022, supporting hospitality businesses following the pandemic. The success of the campaign has led the brand to further invest in cricket and the wider sporting world.
In addition to its collaboration with the West Indies Cricket team, Mount Gay recently announced the release of the brand’s first Limited-Edition XO cricket label. The bottle, featuring a cricket-inspired label, celebrates the cultural legacy of legendary Barbadian players and the spirit of togetherness, as depicted in the label design.
The brand will continue to support the wider sporting community, including its ongoing involvement as the official rum supplier of Cowes Week, one of the world’s most famous sailing regattas. These initiatives show Mount Gay’s commitment to building community spirit and pride across diverse sporting arenas.
As Mount Gay embarks on this new journey with the West Indies Cricket team, both cultural icons are ready to inspire and celebrate the heart and soul of the Caribbean through sport and tradition.
