Major-breaking: Canadiens bolster squad depth with another top super signing

Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced that the team has acquired forward  from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Jordan Harris.

 

Blue Jackets' Laine excited to stay in Columbus, play with Gaudreau

 

Laine, 26, recorded nine points (six goals, three assists) in 18 games with Columbus last season. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound right winger has played 480 regular season games across eight NHL seasons with the Winnipeg Jets and the Blue Jackets, accumulating 204 goals and 184 assists. A native of Tampere, Finland, Laine was selected second overall by the Jets in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Internationally, Laine contributed to Finland’s victory at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he tallied 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in seven games and was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team.
