Alabama football may boast the top special teams unit in the nation, and now all three starters are on scholarship.
Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer announced on Thursday that long snapper Kneeland Hibbett has been granted a scholarship. This award was given during the preseason camp.
“I wasn’t entirely certain how to approach this internally,” DeBoer said. “I wanted to surprise him, and we managed to do that. He truly deserves it. He’s incredibly reliable and an outstanding individual.”
Alabama recently held senior talks, with Kneeland Hibbett kicking things off last week, according to DeBoer.
“He truly excelled,” DeBoer said. “It’s clear what kind of leader he is and how much the team trusts and respects him.”
A native of Florence, Hibbett has been a walk-on snapper for the past three seasons. He earned the starting role in 2021 and has continued to impress.
In the 2022 season, he not only handled snapping duties effectively but also recovered a fumble during a punt coverage in the Iron Bowl. In 2023, he earned a spot on the All-SEC first team.
“He’s incredibly reliable and a valuable asset to our team,” DeBoer added.
