The Oregon Ducks have been making headlines with their recruiting efforts recently. Over the past month, they’ve secured seven new commitments, with four of them—including two five-star prospects—coming in just the past week.
The Ducks had a shot at securing a commitment from five-star tight end Linkon Cure from Goodland, KS, who was set to announce his decision during a 247Sports Livestream. Unfortunately for Oregon, He chose to commit to the Kansas State Wildcats instead.
Cure explained his decision to On3, saying, “I love everything about Kansas State. The culture and the environment around the program were really important to me. I was impressed by the leadership and coaching staff, especially Coach Chris Klieman. There are a lot of people I respect there, and it feels like a great place for me.”
Cure’s decision followed a series of official visits: Kansas on May 31, Texas A&M on June 7, Oregon on June 16, and Kansas State on June 21. These visits made his choice challenging.
“It was a roller coaster of a year,” Cure shared with On3 last month. “The process didn’t go as I expected, with coaching changes and other factors making it difficult. But I enjoyed every part of it. After taking all those visits, the decision was tougher than I anticipated, but I’m confident in what I’ve seen and what I want.”
Cure is a highly sought-after recruit, ranked as the No. 27 player in the nation, the No. 2 tight end, and the No. 2 player in Kansas according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
