A third guard from Iowa’s women’s basketball team has announced plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Sophomore talented guard shared that she will leave the Hawkeyes after spending two seasons in Iowa City. The 5-foot-9 guard, who played at Solon High School, appeared in 29 games during her college career, recording 25 points, 17 rebounds, 15 assists, and nine steals while wearing the black and gold.
Levin earned the title of 2024 Miss Iowa Basketball following an impressive high school career at Solon, where she accumulated 1,984 points, along with 535 rebounds, 412 assists, and 417 steals. As a senior, she averaged 22 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.8 steals, and 4.5 assists per game.
“It’s a bittersweet day … ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamt of playing basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The ringing of my name in Carver-Hawkeye Arena after hitting my first shot was everything I expected and more. It’s been one of the greatest honors to wear the black and gold and represent my home state. I’m so grateful that the Iowa coaches gave me this opportunity.
“A special thank you to my family who has always encouraged me to dream big and trust that God’s plan is GREAT! To my teammates, who have become my closest friends, I will forever appreciate the amazing memories that we made together on and off the court, especially the times we were able to grow our faith together.
“To my business partners, especially Hills Bank, thank you for making this Hometown Hawkeye feel so special. To the amazing Hawkeye fans, you guys are second to none. Running out of the Carver tunnel and hearing the loud roar is something that will be cemented in my memory forever.
“Although my dream was to spend my career playing basketball in the black and gold, sometimes in life we have to pivot and change course to reach our goals. Therefore, I will be entering the transfer portal. Thank you Hawkeye Nation for the past two years. I will always be a Hawkeye at heart,” Levin wrote in her announcement.
Levin joins Addie Deal and Kennise Johnson as Hawkeyes that have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal.
