Paige Bueckers might not be thrilled with a recent 2026 WNBA mock draft that predicts the Dallas Wings will choose a player other than her teammate Azzi Fudd.
Although Fudd has been playing exceptionally well for an undefeated UConn team, analysts remain divided on whether the senior guard is truly the best prospect available in April’s draft.
In fact, Bleacher Report’s newest WNBA mock draft has the Wings picking Spanish teenager Awa Fam with the top pick on April 13, while Fudd would head to the Seattle Storm at #3 overall.

There are a few reasons why this possibility may come to pass. First, B/R’s Hunter Cruse says that the 6’4” Fam “is an ideal complement” to Bueckers, owing to her “size, athleticism and processing speed.”
In addition, the Wings have to consider what Fudd’s fit would be next to All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale. Though Ogunbowale is a pending free agent, Dallas has expressed interest in re-signing its all-time top scorer even after a down year in 2025.
Plus, Fam really might be too good to pass up. Cruse writes that the 19-year-old has “an ideal offensive profile for a modern WNBA big, blending post scoring and efficient play as a roller and rim-runner with an expanding three-point shot.”
Though Fam’s defense is labeled as something of a work in progress, Cruse writes further that Fam projects as an “all-time” playmaker who would allow Bueckers to flourish off the ball.
