JUST IN: St. Louis Cardinals Linked to an Insane Blockbuster Trade with Rival To Bring In Gold Glover

The St. Louis Cardinals have committed to a rebuild over the last several months. At last season’s trade deadline, they dealt multiple relievers to contenders, bringing back a strong collection of prospects in return for Phil Maton, Steven Matz, and Ryan Helsley.

That teardown has continued into the offseason. St. Louis has already moved on from Sonny Gray, Willson Contreras, and Nolan Arenado in major trades, and more moves could still be coming.

The Cardinals may explore deals involving JoJo Romero, Brendan Donovan, Lars Nootbaar, and Alec Burleson in the weeks ahead, with Donovan emerging as the most likely trade candidate.

MLB insider Mark Feinsand recently named Donovan among the top players who could be moved this offseason, noting that a deal could happen sooner rather than later.

Donovan’s trade value is significant thanks to his defensive versatility and All-Star–caliber offensive production, meaning St. Louis could command a substantial return.

The Seattle Mariners appear to be a logical landing spot, as they need help at both second and third base following the departures of Jorge Polanco and Eugenio Suárez. Donovan could immediately fill either role. The San Francisco Giants also stand out as a potential suitor, given their aggressive approach over the past year and willingness to pursue impact moves.

Ultimately, if the Cardinals can secure a sizable package in return, dealing Donovan would align with their rebuilding strategy.
