Good news: Syracuse Orange confirm to land commitment for another gifted player

An up-and-coming talent from Wisconsin in the 2026 class, visited Syracuse basketball over the weekend and announced via his X page that he has received a scholarship offer from the Orange coaching staff.

Standing at 6-foot-6, he is a four-star small forward in the junior class. He recently saw a significant rise in the national rankings, as On3 updated its 2026 list in early October, moving him into the top 55 overall players.

Karvala is a student at Oregon High School in Oregon, Wisconsin. Just last week, another Wisconsin native, three-star wing Aaron Womack from Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, officially signed with Syracuse for the 2025 class, according to SU Athletics.

From late April to late May, during the most recent AAU regular season, Karvala showcased his skills at a high level for the 16U team of Milwaukee’s Team Herro in Nike’s EYBL league. Over that period, he averaged 13.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

Four-star Vaughn Karvala recently visited the Orange and scored a Syracuse basketball offer.

According to recruiting services, in addition to Syracuse, Karvala has received scholarship offers from schools like Arizona State, Marquette, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Arkansas State, and Northern Michigan.

After On3’s recent update to its top 150 rankings for the 2026 class, Karvala made a significant leap, rising 64 spots from No. 117 to No. 53 nationally. On3 also ranks him as the No. 18 small forward and the top prospect from Wisconsin in his class.

At the time I wrote this column, the 247Sports Composite had Karvala as a four-star prospect, ranked No. 113 nationally, No. 40 among small forwards, and No. 1 in Wisconsin.

So far, at least 15 high school juniors have received scholarship offers from Syracuse, though the coaching staff may not be actively pursuing all of them at this point. Recently, Syracuse extended offers to three 2026 prospects from CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix: four-star guard Rokiem Green, four-star center Aliou Dioum, and four-star point guard Miles Sadler.

Other juniors who seem to be priority targets for Syracuse in the 2026 class include five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr., five-star guard/small forward Alex Constanza, and five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., among others.

Smith and Rippey have both made unofficial visits to Syracuse, while Constanza visited the Hill on an official trip about a month ago.
