LATEST: Packers star make brutal comments about Bears DJ Moore

The weather was warm, the days felt endless, and the Bears hadn’t let anyone down yet. Ah, those were the days. Back then, during the early days of training camp, everything seemed perfect. Shane Waldron was still on the job! That’s how good things were. In fact, everything was going so smoothly that no one really made a fuss when DJ Moore appeared on Kay Adams’ morning show and took some jabs at the Packers’ secondary. It barely registered, just a small footnote in a day likely dominated by grainy footage of Caleb Williams tossing passes around. Some people might not even remember it.

Except for Xavier McKinney. He remembers. And he’s been holding onto it, waiting for the right moment to speak up. And let me tell you, when he did, he didn’t hold back. In a conversation with The Athletic’s Packers beat writer Matt Schneidman, McKinney went off on DJ Moore in a way that’s bound to make an appearance on Sunday afternoon—I’m willing to wager a hefty sum on that.

Packers’ Xavier McKinney doesn’t have one single nice thing to say about DJ Moore

Packers: Xavier McKinney vocal on potential reunion with ex-Alabama coach in Green Bay

“(Moore) is another one of those guys, same guy, play’s still going on and you walk off the field on your offense. You know, you take note of that … I’ve been playing (NFL) football for five years now and I’ve been watching football for longer than that and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a … You’re supposed to be the guy and you’re just walking off the field. You’re walking off the field on a rookie quarterback that you’ve been praising, so it’s like, that’s a whole other story.”

When pressed on the notion that Moore walked off the field because he hurt his ankle, McKinney didn’t mince words, simply saying, “Cap. That’s what I say. Cap.”

Not only is McKinney calling Moore lazy, but he’s also accusing him of lying, and strongly hinting that Moore has played a big part in the Bears’ dysfunction over the past six weeks. This is probably the most blunt and dramatic trash talk we’ve seen all season—players just don’t go at each other this directly anymore. Whatever else goes down on Sunday afternoon, one thing’s for sure: we’re going to see Moore and McKinney settle this on the field. And you know it’s going to happen.
