Due to two major injuries on the defensive line, the Buffalo Bills are re-signing some familiar players. On Wednesday, the team announced that they have added two vital players to the 53-man roster.
Phillips, who was recently with the Dallas Cowboys, was let go earlier this week after playing in only two games and recording a single tackle.
With two key injuries to their defensive line, the Buffalo Bills are bringing back some familiar faces to help fill the gap.
On Wednesday, the team announced that Jordan Phillips and Quinton Jefferson have been signed to the 53-man roster.
Phillips, who was most recently with the Dallas Cowboys, was released earlier this week after appearing in just two games and recording one tackle.
Jefferson, meanwhile, spent the first half of the season with the Cleveland Browns, where he played in five games, logging one sack and six tackles.
Both veteran defensive linemen have had slow starts to the 2024 season, but the Bills hope a return to Buffalo can help spark their performance. Phillips, in particular, has shown he tends to play his best football with the Bills, a topic I asked him about on Wednesday.
“For sure, mostly because I’m an acquired taste, and they like my flavor here, you know what I mean?” Phillips said, reflecting on his return to Buffalo.
This will mark Phillips’ third stint with the Bills. Over his previous time with the team, he’s played in 54 games and started 19. Jefferson, on the other hand, only spent one season in Buffalo, back in 2020, where he appeared in all 16 regular-season games.
“I had some options, but I definitely wanted to come back here,” Jefferson said on Wednesday. “I’m familiar with everybody, there’s a winning culture, they know me and know my skill set, and it seemed like a great fit and opportunity.”
“I’m glad to have those two back,” Bills quarterback Josh Allen said. “They have been good locker room guys for us and they’ll make an immediate impact on the field.”
