The Pittsburgh Steelers have added former Ohio State linebacker to their practice squad. Young played for the Buckeyes from 2019 to 2021 before transferring to Kansas to complete his college career.
In addition to signing Young, the team has re-signed Ade Ogundeji after releasing him from the active roster on Monday. Young’s signing comes after the Carolina Panthers claimed Jacoby Windmon, an inside linebacker who can also play outside, from the Steelers’ practice squad. Windmon will remain on the Panthers’ active roster for the next three weeks.
Young initially signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft but was released on August 27 during roster cuts. Now, he has the chance to continue his NFL career with the Steelers.
Standing at 6 feet and weighing 226 pounds, Young recorded a 4.57-second 40-yard dash at the Big 12 Combine in Frisco, Texas. While he has yet to play in an NFL game, he aims to earn that opportunity with the Steelers as he climbs the depth chart. The Steelers also have Devin Harper, another inside linebacker, on their practice squad.
