The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed outside linebacker to their practice squad. He had been elevated to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders but was released the following day. Additionally, the Steelers signed inside linebacker Colby Young to take over the spot left vacant by Jacoby Windmon, who was claimed by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.
In his first game with the Steelers against the Raiders, Ogundeji recorded a pass deflection but no other statistics. A fifth-round pick by the Falcons in the 2021 NFL Draft, he has appeared in 33 NFL games and recorded three sacks during his tenure with Atlanta.
Ogundeji and Eku Leota both saw action on Sunday and are now part of the practice squad. Following Wednesday’s roster moves, the Steelers’ practice squad has a total of 17 players.
The team anticipates that outside linebacker Alex Highsmith will return after sitting out the past three weeks due to a groin injury. If he does return, he will start alongside T.J. Watt. However, with Nick Herbig still unavailable, Ogundeji may have the opportunity to be elevated from the practice squad and play again on Sunday.
