BREAKING: ‘This is sad’ New York Giants fans confirm more bad news

The atmosphere among the New York Giants was electric following a big win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5, but they were hit with surprising news regarding one of their key defensive players.

Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux has a wrist injury

Giants Star Pass Rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux Undergoes Wrist Surgery

Head coach Brian Daboll announced that edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux underwent wrist surgery on Wednesday morning and is now considered week-to-week, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. His availability for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals is uncertain.

Thibodeaux started the season slowly but has been improving in recent weeks. In Week 5 against the Seahawks, he recorded five pressures, four hurries, two stops, and 0.5 sacks.

If Thibodeaux can’t play on Sunday, the Giants will feel his absence significantly. The Bengals, despite struggling with a 1-4 record, have solid pass protection, earning a respectable 68.0 PFF grade in pass blocking.

The Giants will desperately try to replace his production during his absence

Thibodeaux would have made a significant impact on the defensive line alongside Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence, applying pressure on Cincinnati’s offensive line. Lawrence had three sacks in the victory over Seattle, while Burns added one.

In Thibodeaux’s absence, the Giants will need to depend more on Azeez Ojulari and Rakeem Nunez-Roches to help fill the gap. The team faces a tough schedule ahead, with games against the Eagles, Steelers, and the in-form Commanders following Week 6 against the Bengals.

It’s still uncertain how long Thibodeaux will be out, but New York could be facing a major setback as they aim to turn their season around.
