One of the top recruits for the Florida Gators’ 2025 class announced on On3 and 247 Sports that he is switching his commitment to Miami.
Joshua Moore, a four-star wide receiver from West Broward in Pembroke Pines, Florida, has changed his commitment from the Florida Gators to the Miami Hurricanes, as announced by his agency through On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday evening. He had originally committed to Florida in June.
In six games with West Broward, Joshua Moore (6-4, 210 pounds) has recorded 32 receptions for 510 yards and five touchdowns. Gators Illustrated had previously highlighted him in their recruiting roundups for Weeks 2, 3, and 4.
Before committing to Florida, Moore was drawn by the idea of playing alongside freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, who is being prepared to lead the offense next season. “Development, academic support, and a quarterback. They [UF] have a solid quarterback. Other schools don’t,” Moore stated after his visit on June 2.
However, the Miami Hurricanes have consistently pursued him, especially following his visit in September, right after Florida’s season-opening 41-17 loss to Miami. After that game, Moore insisted he was still “100% a Gator.”
Over the past few weeks, Moore visited Miami frequently but also kept visiting Gainesville, with his latest trip occurring during the Gators’ 24-13 victory over UCF.
With Moore’s commitment flip, Florida now has two wide receiver commits for the 2025 class: four-star Vernell Brown III from Orlando and four-star Naeshaun Montgomery from West Palm Beach. As a result of this change, Florida’s recruiting class, which was previously hovering around the top 20, has now fallen to the borderline of the top 30 according to both On3 and 247 Sports.
