The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without running back Jaylen Warren in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts as he continues to recover from a knee injury sustained in Week 3. The team confirmed his absence in their final injury report.
Warren didn’t practice all week after exiting the previous game with the injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin stated that removing him from the game was a precaution for his long-term health, which influenced the decision for him to skip practice during his recovery.
This marks Warren’s second injury this season, following a hamstring issue during the preseason. While these injuries are unrelated, the Steelers are being careful to ensure he’s available for the playoff push later in the season.
In Warren’s absence, the Steelers will rely on Najee Harris and Cordarrelle Patterson as their top two running backs. They may also elevate either Jonathan Ward or Aaron Shampklin from the practice squad for additional depth.
Warren, who also served as a kick returner alongside Patterson, is expected to be replaced by Calvin Austin or another player from the practice squad.
