The Auburn Tigers has secured a commitment from a top in-state recruit. As reported by Auburn  Observer, head coach has signed another promising young star to bolster squad.

Simon Walker from Huntsville High School the 6-foot-5 senior averaged 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists per game last season. He decided to commit to Auburn over offers from Iowa and Virginia Tech. Pearl shared his excitement about the recruit with a simple post on X (formerly Twitter): “Boom.”

Walker is ranked as the No. 2 player from Alabama in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports, and he is the first commitment for Auburn’s 2025 recruiting cycle.

The timeline from Auburn offering Walker to his commitment was quick: he received an offer on August 27, visited the campus on September 13, and committed within 30 days. An expert prediction on 247 Sports was made just this past Tuesday.

His visit to Auburn had a significant impact on him. “The environment, the fanbase, the energy, and the good vibes that Auburn has really stood out to me,” Walker said. “Everyone enjoys being down there and values the relationships they build. People don’t leave Auburn; they want to call it home, and that appealed to me.”

Auburn has been attracting top talent recently. In the 2024 recruiting cycle, they added point guard Tahaad Pettiford and shooting guard Jahki Howard, both of whom were top-five players in their states and ranked in the top 20 for their positions.

Looking ahead, Auburn is also in the mix for A.J. Dybansta, the top recruit in the 2025 class. As the Tigers aim to compete at the highest level on the court, they are also focused on recruiting elite talent.
