BREAKING: Not again! Steelers fans confirm more bad news

Mike Tomlin has stated that his decision to keep Justin Fields as the starter is straightforward due to Russell Wilson’s injury, and a prominent reporter supports this claim.

There has been speculation that the Steelers might be downplaying Wilson’s injury, especially since they’re 3-0 and Fields has performed well. However, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Wilson’s calf injury is significant and that participating in preseason activities may have exacerbated it.

Fowler noted that Wilson demonstrated better command of the offense during the offseason than Fields, but he is currently not moving well as he recovers from his ongoing calf issue. Wilson initially injured his calf during a conditioning test at training camp and managed to secure the starting role, but he aggravated the injury before Week 1, giving Fields a chance to step in.

Even if Wilson were nearing full health, there would be no reason to rush him back into action. If his calf continues to be a problem, it clarifies why Coach Tomlin gave a straightforward response when asked about Fields’ starting status.
