BREAKING: Excitement Everywhere As Calgary Flames Confirm Good News

The Calgary Flames have announced the re-signing of defenceman Ilya Solovyov and centre Cole Schwindt.

Solovyov inked a two-year contract, featuring a two-way deal in the first year and a one-way deal in the second year, with an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Schwindt signed a one-year, two-way contract valued at $800,000 annually at the NHL level.

Solovyov, 24, hails from Mogilev, Belarus, made his NHL debut last season, recording three assists in 10 games for the Flames. He also tallied five goals and 10 assists in 51 games with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, plus one goal in six Calder Cup playoff matches.

Schwindt, 23, from Kitchener, Ontario, debuted with the Flames last season, appearing in four games. He scored 14 goals and provided 22 assists in 66 regular-season games with the Wranglers, leading the team with four playoff goals, including one game-winner.

Drafted by Florida in the third round (81st overall) in the 2019 NHL Draft, Schwindt joined Calgary in July 2022 as part of the trade that sent star forward Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers, along with forward Jonathan Huberdeau and defenceman MacKenzie Weegar.
