Penn State has lost a recruit from its 2025 class. Highly regarded player, a three-star safety from Miami’s Northwestern High School, has switched his commitment from the Nittany Lions to Deion Sanders and Colorado.
The 6-foot-2, 172-pound Branch is ranked as the No. 40 safety and the No. 436 overall prospect in the 2025 class. He shared his decision on X.
Penn State now has only one safety, three-star Braswell Thomas, remaining in its upcoming recruiting class. Following a recent “long-term” injury to Kevin Winston Jr., the safety position has come under close scrutiny over the past two weeks.
The situation may become more critical next season, as both Winston and Jaylen Reed are expected to enter the NFL Draft. This will likely put true freshmen Dejuan Lane and Vaboue Toure in the spotlight as the year progresses, setting the stage for increased playing time for both in the 2025 season.
