Good News: Three-Team Trade Proposal Sends Six-Time All-Star to Golden State Warriors

Could Miami Heat star join the Golden State Warriors, and might the Atlanta Hawks benefit from the proposed trade?

“You need to see some major changes to make a move like this. In terms of trade possibilities, Jimmy Butler, who will be a free agent next summer and didn’t get an extension, is a name that comes up. The Warriors have shown interest and likely made inquiries this summer.”

Jimmy Butler is seeking a new contract, but the Miami Heat are not rushing to meet his demands.

Butler’s future with the team has been uncertain this off-season as he seeks a long-term extension to remain in Miami. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Butler could sign an extension worth up to two years and $112.9 million. However, Heat president Pat Riley has not committed to a deal, stating in June after the team’s elimination by the Boston Celtics:

“We haven’t discussed [a Butler extension] internally at this point. We need to evaluate the timing and the commitment involved. We don’t have to make a decision until 2025, so we’ll see. We haven’t really delved into it yet.”

Riley also addressed concerns about Butler’s availability, noting that Butler will soon turn 35 and has missed the entire playoffs this year due to a knee injury. Additionally, Butler has not played more than 65 regular-season games in a season since joining the Heat.

“That’s a significant commitment, and we need to be certain the player will be available every night. That’s a major factor.”

The Golden State Warriors, who had a disappointing season and missed the playoffs, are reportedly interested in Butler. They lost Klay Thompson in the off-season but added depth with DeAnthony Melton and Buddy Hield. Despite having star player Steph Curry and some promising young talent like Jonathan Kuminga, Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Brandin Podziemski, the team seems to be in need of a significant boost to compete in the tough Western Conference.
