Few players in Houston Astros history have matched Craig Biggio’s impact. The Hall of Famer spent his entire 20-season career with the Astros, cementing his status as a franchise icon.

His son, Cavan Biggio, is also a professional baseball player, though he hasn’t achieved the same level of success as his father.
Despite not reaching the heights of his dad, Cavan has carved out a notable career. He has moved around the league, which highlights his value as a player.
This year, Biggio will be joining his fourth team, as the San Francisco Giants traded him to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night, according to David O’Brien of The Athletic.
The Braves, dealing with numerous injuries, acquired Biggio in a minor league trade. At 29, Biggio has a career batting average of .225 with 51 home runs and a .721 OPS across 520 games (1,849 plate appearances) in six MLB seasons.
Because Biggio was on a minor league deal with the Giants, he was eligible to be traded. However, since the trade occurred after September 1, he won’t be eligible to participate in the postseason for the Braves.
Nevertheless, he could play a significant role for Atlanta in the coming weeks as they aim to secure a playoff spot. The Braves recently lost Whit Merrifield to a broken foot and have been managing numerous injuries throughout the season.
In 2024, Biggio has posted a .197/.317/.306 slash line, with five home runs, five doubles, and 19 RBIs in 183 at-bats.
Once regarded as a promising talent after hitting 16 home runs in his rookie season, Biggio has faced some challenges since then. Despite these struggles, he possesses undeniable talent, and there’s hope he will find his footing and continue his Major League career.
