On Friday afternoon, UNC Athletics revealed that Johnson, a graduate quarterback, will be out for the rest of the 2024 season due to a broken right leg sustained during the game against Minnesota.
Johnson underwent successful surgery in Minneapolis on Friday and is anticipated to make a full recovery.
After competing for the starting position in the offseason, Johnson was chosen over sophomore Conner Harrell.
In the third quarter, Johnson was tackled by Minnesota’s Justin Walley, leading to his injury. Before the injury, Johnson had accumulated 71 passing yards, one interception, and a rushing touchdown.
