BREAKING: Red Sox To Land Fruition Trade For $116 Million Star In Trade At Winter Meetings

The Boston Red Sox will need to make several significant offseason moves if they hope to catch up to the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East.

With Alex Bregman now a free agent, the Red Sox could benefit from adding another infielder. Bringing Bregman back is an option, but the club may also explore potential trades.

Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report recently reveal that the Red Sox might acquire Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte in a major trade during the winter meetings.

“According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Marte is the ‘biggest star who is a realistic candidate to be traded,’ and the Red Sox are one of the teams that have checked in,” Rymer wrote. “Between his talent and the fact that he’s owed just $91 million over the next five seasons, the Arizona Diamondbacks can put a huge price tag on Marte. The Red Sox have surpluses of what they need, though, namely outfielders and pitching.”

The Red Sox make a lot of sense as a landing spot for Marte.

They have the pitching and outfield prospects that it would take to land the star. The Red Sox could even part ways with Jarren Duran in a deal to acquire Marte.

The addition of Duran in a deal for the star infielder might be what separates the Red Sox from other potential suitors. Boston could shake up the league by bringing in one of the best middle infielders in baseball.
