Good news: Virginia Tech fans confirm major boost ahead of fixture

In recent weeks, the Virginia Tech football team has been hit hard by injuries. During their game at Syracuse last weekend, they were without two key offensive players, quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten, and also lost cornerback Mansoor Delane during the game.

At his weekly press conference on Tuesday, ahead of this Saturday’s home matchup with Clemson, head coach Brent Pry expressed uncertainty about the availability of his players, listing Tuten, Delane, and Drones as questionable for the ACC clash. However, by Wednesday, Pry sounded more hopeful, suggesting that there was a strong possibility all three players could return to the lineup for the game.

David Cunningham of Tech Sideline reported that Drones, Tuten, and Delane were all moving well during Wednesday afternoon’s practice. Afterward, head coach Brent Pry provided an optimistic update to the media, offering a more positive outlook on their status.

“I think all three of them have a good chance [to play Saturday vs. Clemson] after yesterday and today,” said Pry.

Getting Drones, Tuten, and Delane back would be a major boost for the Hokies, particularly Drones and Tuten on offense. While Collin Schlee, Malachi Thomas, and Jeremiah Coney all stepped up and played well in their absence—performing well enough to secure a win over Syracuse if not for a defensive collapse in the second half—the Virginia Tech offense is a different animal when Drones and Tuten are on the field.

At this point in the season, nearly every team is dealing with injuries, but having all three of these key players back for the Clemson game would be a significant lift for the Hokies. With one more win needed to become bowl-eligible, Saturday presents a crucial opportunity, and being as healthy as possible would certainly help their chances of achieving that goal.
