BREAKING: ‘This is so sad’ Giants fans receive unexpected heart-breaking news ahead of fixture

The New York Giants are still dealing with a challenging injury situation, as three important defensive starters did not practice on Thursday ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to head coach Brian Daboll, three starters all missed practice on Thursday as they work through their injuries (h/t New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard). Lawrence was questionable last week due to a hip injury but managed to play against the Philadelphia Eagles, while Jackson missed that game with a neck issue.

Flott is dealing with a new groin injury sustained during Week 7 against Philadelphia. Daboll mentioned that he hasn’t ruled out Flott for Monday’s game against the Steelers, but his availability remains uncertain (h/t New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard).

Since Lawrence played last week despite his injury, he appears to be in a better position to suit up on Monday night compared to Flott. The Giants will need at least one of Flott or Jackson back in the lineup, as their already struggling secondary cannot afford further setbacks.

The Giants have suffered loads of injuries to their roster of late

The Giants have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, particularly on defense. Edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is on injured reserve after wrist surgery, which is expected to keep him out at least until the bye week. Meanwhile, Brian Burns has been dealing with a groin issue for several games.

The most significant setback is on the offensive line, where All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas will miss the remainder of the season due to foot surgery. According to Dan Duggan from The Athletic, Joshua Ezeudu took first-team reps at left tackle during Thursday’s practice, but head coach Daboll has not yet confirmed if he will start.

Updates on the status of players who didn’t practice on Thursday are expected before Monday’s game, which starts at 8:15 P.M. EST and will be shown nationally on ESPN. The extra day of rest could help these players recover in time for the matchup.
