DeAndre Hopkins seems to be the latest Pro Bowl wide receiver to switch teams before the NFL trade deadline. According to several reports, the Tennessee Titans have finalized a trade to send Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs. In exchange, the Chiefs are offering a fifth-round draft pick that could upgrade to a fourth-round pick based on Hopkins’ performance.
As a crucial veteran who could be the missing piece, Hopkins has been a hot topic in the trade market. Now, he joins the defending champions.
Hopkins has had a slow start this season, recording just 15 catches for 173 yards and one touchdown. This dip in production isn’t surprising, considering he’s a 32-year-old receiver catching passes from Will Levis and Mason Rudolph. However, he still managed to make 75 receptions for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns last season over 17 games.
The Chiefs were in desperate need of a wide receiver after Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending injury in Week 4. They had also been linked to another former All-Pro receiver.
While Hopkins may not be as explosive as he once was, he should be more productive with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes than he was in Tennessee.
