Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs may have missed out on their top 2026 recruit for now, but Friday brought some exciting news.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin has officially committed to Georgia for the 2025 class.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 285 pounds, Griffin hails from Savannah (Ga.) Christian Prep and had offers from prestigious programs like USC and Miami, along with 37 others, but ultimately chose to stay in his home state.
“I put my heart into this; it’s time to take over the SEC,” Griffin stated.
Griffin is ranked as the No. 4 prospect and the top defensive lineman in the nation, as well as the No. 19 overall recruit in Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite.
In his junior season, Griffin recorded impressive stats: 97 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, and an interception, leading his team to the state championship. He earned honors as the 2023 Georgia AAA Class Defensive Lineman of the Year and was selected as a MaxPreps Junior All-American.
With Griffin’s commitment, Georgia now has 23 recruits secured for their 2025 class.
