The Steelers have received surprising news as star wide receiver now available for trade following the New York Jets’ acquisition of Davante Adams.
Mike Williams is now available for trade following the New York Jets’ acquisition of Davante Adams, and it appears multiple teams are interested in him.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New Orleans Saints have contacted the Jets regarding Williams.
Williams spent his first seven seasons with the Chargers but suffered a torn ACL early last year and was released in March. With L.A. trading star wideout Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears, they could benefit from reuniting with Williams if the cost is right.
The Saints are also in need of a wide receiver, especially since one of their top playmakers may require season-ending surgery.
Williams missed practice on Wednesday for personal reasons, fueling speculation about a potential trade. Additionally, Aaron Rodgers criticized him for an alleged mistake during Monday night’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.
This season, Williams has recorded 10 catches for 145 yards, while he typically averaged 54.6 yards per game as a big-play receiver with the Chargers. If the Jets set a reasonable asking price, they should be able to find a buyer without much difficulty.
