Olivier Primeau, the well-known entrepreneur and avid sports enthusiast, is outspoken about his views, especially regarding the Montreal Canadiens. He has previously criticized the contracts awarded to Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki and seems to have reservations about Kent Hughes’s acquisition of Patrik Laine.
Olivier Primeau criticizes Patrik Laine
On the podcast *Le Playbook* with Jean-Charles Lajoie and Greg Lanctot, Primeau expressed his thoughts on Patrik Laine, sharing his concerns about the acquisition and how it fits into the Canadiens’ strategy.
“What’s the point of bringing in Laine, who is taking the place of so many young players we have? […] Being that soft, it’s not a good example at all.”
– Olivier Primeau
He seems to believe that Laine is taking the spot of several young players and isn’t contributing enough, especially for a player who hasn’t played for a while.
“At this point, with everything he has gone through in recent seasons, he should be tearing up the boards and already have scored 4 goals.”- Olivier Primeau
He recognizes that it’s just the preseason, but he anticipated a more consistent effort from Laine. Personally, I believe we should give the former Columbus Blue Jackets player some time. We’ve seen him improve noticeably since camp began, especially in terms of his defensive involvement.
I have complete confidence in Martin St-Louis to help maximize Laine’s talent. Let’s give him the opportunity to find his rhythm.
