BREAKING: ‘This is sad’ Kansas State Wildcats fans receive unexpected heart-breaking news

The Kansas State Wildcats’ lackluster passing game took another hit in their tough loss to the BYU Cougars. Tight end , who had been performing well in the absence of Ben Sinnott, is expected to be out for several weeks. Wildcats coach Chris Klieman discussed Loftin’s injury during a recent press conference.

“He will be out for a few weeks,” Klieman said. “He has a lower body injury. It’s not season-ending, which is good news, but Brayden won’t be playing for a while.”

In Loftin’s absence, quarterback Avery Johnson will rely on senior Will Swanson and sophomore Garrett Oakley to step up at tight end. Together, Swanson and Oakley recorded four receptions for 31 yards in the loss to BYU.

Klieman is focused on avoiding a streak of consecutive losses. The last time the Wildcats lost back-to-back games was in 2021, but the recent defeat to BYU puts that record at risk. Kansas State will face the No. 20-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday.

“I didn’t realize that, so thanks for the info,” Klieman said about the potential for a second straight loss. “But it really has to come from within. While coaches play a role, it’s up to our leadership and players to take ownership, elevate their play, and improve their preparation. We as coaches will keep pushing the right buttons, but how we respond will be key.”

For the Wildcats to secure a win, quarterback Avery Johnson needs to improve his passing; he threw two critical interceptions against BYU.
