The Golden State Warriors are finalizing their roster ahead Donta of the preseason, with two new signings confirmed before training camp in Hawaii on October 1. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Warriors have signed Javan Johnson and Scott to Exhibit 10 (training camp) contracts. This follows the recent signings of point guard Yuri Collins and forward Jackson Rowe.
Both Johnson and Scott are familiar with the Warriors’ system. Johnson, who went undrafted last year, played for Golden State in the 2023 Summer League and signed a training camp contract in late September last year. He did not secure a main roster spot, returning instead to the G League’s Santa Cruz affiliate, where he averaged 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds over 48 games. Known for his three-point shooting, over 70% of Johnson’s attempts last season were from beyond the arc, hitting 37.5%. He also played two games for the Portland Trail Blazers in this year’s Summer League, averaging 6.5 points in 12.5 minutes per game.
Scott, a 6’7″ forward, went undrafted after five years at Maryland, where he averaged 11.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in his final season. He joined the Warriors for Summer League, averaging 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds over five games with shooting splits of 36% from the field, 13% from three, and 67% from the line.
While it’s unlikely that Rowe, Collins, Johnson, or Scott will remain with Golden State beyond the preseason, these signings help round out the Santa Cruz roster for their season opener on November 8. Exhibit 10 contracts are non-guaranteed, allowing teams to waive players anytime, typically after preseason games. However, players can earn a bonus of up to $75,000 if they stay with the G League affiliate for at least 60 days after being waived.
Training camp presents these players with a chance to impress for potential future opportunities or to step in should a spot open up before the season starts.
