BREAKING: Phillies Reportedly target Rival All-Star to strengthen bullpen

The Philadelphia Phillies are deeply focused on winning a World Series, but their front office is also considering the future. While the core of their team is strong for years ahead, their long-term success will hinge on the supporting players around their stars.

Maintaining a solid bullpen is crucial, especially given the challenges with their starting pitchers. However, both right-handers Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez will be free agents after this season.

Hoffman, an All-Star in 2024, has posted a 3-2 record with 10 saves and a 1.73 ERA over 64 appearances. Estevez, who was an American League All-Star in 2023, is 3-2 with six saves and a 2.37 ERA in 18 games since joining from the Los Angeles Angels.

Losing either player would be a significant blow to the Phillies.

If they need to rebuild their bullpen, they might consider targeting St. Louis Cardinals reliever Andrew Kittredge. He is set to become a free agent this winter and is expected to switch teams, according to FanSided’s Mark Powell.

“Kittredge has been reliable for the Cardinals this season, though he won’t pitch in the postseason. He has a 2.92 ERA in 64 games. If St. Louis can afford him, they might keep him, but they have too many other needs to prioritize relief pitching,” Powell noted.

The Phillies have several challenges ahead before addressing next season, but Kittredge could be a key consideration when the time comes.
