Former Saint Louis Billikens standout Yuri Collins spent the previous season with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the G League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors. During that time, he averaged 4.9 assists in just 24.7 minutes per game, which translates to 8.3 assists per 36 minutes. This performance highlighted his exceptional playmaking skills that made him a standout point guard in college.
Over his four seasons at Saint Louis, Collins averaged 7.6 assists per game, with a career-high 10.1 assists per game during his senior year. He led the Atlantic 10 Conference in assists each season from 2021 to 2023, establishing himself as an elite floor general for the Billikens.
Collins is now joining the Warriors organization and has reportedly signed a training camp contract with the NBA team.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, “The Golden State Warriors have signed guard Yuri Collins to a training camp contract, a league source informed @spotrac.”
The Warriors have seen success with players who, like Collins, joined the organization with limited NBA experience. A notable recent example is Gui Santos, who primarily played in the G League before contributing valuable rotation minutes for Steve Kerr’s team last season.
Although it might be challenging for Collins to secure a spot on Golden State’s regular roster, he could make a strong impression during training camp with his exceptional passing skills.
