NC State QB Grayson McCall out after injury against Louisiana Tech

Grayson McCall, who has a history of concussions including a season-ending one last year while at Coastal Carolina, exited Saturday’s game against Louisiana Tech with an undisclosed injury. McCall was taken off the field by ambulance and hospitalized after a similar injury on October 21 at Arkansas State. On Saturday, he had completed 9 of 13 passes for 54 yards and rushed four times for 22 yards before leaving. Freshman C.J. Bailey took over as quarterback following McCall’s departure. Shortly after, Kanoah Vinesett made a 35-yard field goal, putting NC State ahead 6-0. However, Louisiana Tech scored 17 unanswered points in the final 2:41 of the quarter, leading 17-6 at halftime.

NC State narrowed the gap to 17-13 when DK Kaufman returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown with 14:03 remaining in the third quarter. McCall, who was a three-time Sun Belt Player of the Year during his four seasons at Coastal Carolina, transferred to the Wolfpack after last season.
